The source document is headed “Friday, January 29, 2026”. The board’s own minutes of March 14 and April 25, 2026 refer to this as the January 30 meeting, so it is filed under that date.
President Jacob Flick called the meeting to order following pleasantries.
Roll Call: Board members present: Jacob Flick, Denny Esford, and Andy DeKorte. Others present: Lynne Storms on behalf of the Tree Committee.
Tree Project update from Lynne, Denny, and Jacob. Denny led a discussion of the legal ramifications of signing the document provided by the City of Phoenix to hold the city not liable if an issue occurs during the tree planting project. Denny noted there are risks but they are modest and there are also mitigating circumstances that limit the risks.
Motion to have Jacob Flick sign the document on behalf of the PHA. Approved.
Block Watch update. Denny gave an update on different city employees who are looking for city funds to remove dangerous trees in the PHA neighborhood. If funding is found, there will need to be another legal agreement which addressed the risk differently from the document prepared for the tree planting project.
Celebration Day Timing. The new tree planting celebration day was originally scheduled for February 14. That day may be premature given that no trees have been planted as of January 29. Denny noted there are at least two other neighborhoods ahead of PHA. A later date may allow for a broader event, with more city representatives as well as a table for Block Watch recruiting and for SRP to have a display table on various topics. The Tree Committee will meet to discuss the event and the timing of the event, perhaps February 21.

Next Meeting: The next full Board meeting is scheduled for March 14 at 4:30pm at Denny and Penny’s house. However, there could be interim meetings based on the timing of the Tree Project celebration day.
